MDOP 2013 has been released. Regarding App-V the following has been changed:
- AppV 5.0 Client has been upgraded to AppV 5.0 SP1
- AppV 5.0 Sequencer has been upgraded to AppV 5.0 SP1
- AppV 5.0 Server has been upgraded to AppV 5.0 SP1
- Support for Office 2010
- Support for 24 languages

Sometimes each country has a different homepage. In Internet Explorer you can set each homepage via the policy. Also that can be done for Firefox in combination with GPO For Firefox. But it also generates extra administrative load as the same setting should be maintained at 2 places.

Samsung Kies is used to administer a Samsung Galaxy mobile device. You can backup data, restore data, update your device etc. The company I am working for has the policy that mail may not be read on the mobile device. Thus the users should get a notification when starting Samsung Kies.

The client I am working for now, uses SCCM 2007 to deploy App-V 4.6 packages. In the past it was needed to re-install both the SCCM 2007 and App-V client. As a result that the user has to re-install all the virtual applications.

The client I am working for now, has both XP and Windows 7. XP is 32 bits and Windows 7 is 64 bits. To avoid that I have to make the packages twice, I make both 32 and 64 bits versions. Depending on the CPU architecture the MSI is chosen.

The client I am working for has a multi langual environment. The baseline applications should be available in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian. For each country there was a collection, package and advertisement in SCCM 2007. So a lot to maintain.

With App-V prior to version 5 it was not possible to set a virtualized Firefox as the default browser. This is by design. With App-V 5.0 this is not restricted anymore.

Sometimes you ping a computer, but due to old local DNS cache, the ‘wrong’ computer replies, even after a ipconfig /flushdns. In this script it is solved by pinging the IP address and resolve it back to its hostname.
